Rivet’s Bill Latka directed this documentary style TV commercial for Chatham Communications and their client, Barix Clinics, a specialty hospital with locations in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The spot features an interview with an actual Barix Clinics patient and her family. Latka worked closely with the agency to convey how Nora’s story best addressed the reasons people make decisions to have bariatric surgery. The challenge in conducting interviews with real people (non-actors) is to try and capture genuine and succinct points that stay true to the story and to the selling message.

Barix Clinics had relied on television advertising in the past, but veered to the web to try pay-per-click advertising. They felt it was time to get back into TV as this is a direct-response product. The spots are a huge success.

Latka also edited the spot – it allowed him to keep true to the agency’s wishes and the subject’s real story. Graphics and post were handled by Rivet Entertainment. Director of Photography was Bryan Papierski. Producer for Chatham Communications (Ypsilanti, MI) was Deb Hart.

The spot started airing September 2013.
