Rivet Contributes Production Services to Discovery Channel Canada’s Daily Planet

Discovery Channel Canada's Daily PlanetDiscovery Channel Canada’s weekly science show, Daily Planet, produced a segment about the work that non-profit Archangel Ancient Tree Archive is doing to clone ancient redwoods. After shooting many days out in the redwood groves in northern California, Rivet Entertainment compiled an extensive library of tree climbing and cloning footage that was perfect to help tell the story. The segment is online here, and starts about 2 minutes into the clip.

Shooting the footage meant hiking a few miles into the redwood groves, and then climbing 200′ up into a coast redwood. Rivet’s Producer/Director Bill Latka says, “It was difficult to do, but as you can imagine an incredible thrill to climb twenty stories up in ancient redwood to capture the collecting process.”

Thanks to Dennis Porter from Bell Media, the producers of Daily Planet for Discovery Channel Canada, for including Rivet Entertainment in the production.
